Maeli graduated from a BPA in production design at WAAPA in 2018. At WAAPA she designed for a range of productions including Dance, Theatre, and Musical Theatre. Since 2018 she has worked on the set and costume design for Awesome Arts Festival, a number of School productions, as well as new independent works for The Blue Room, Queen's Park Theatre in Geraldton, and most recently The Last Great Hunt.

Prior to entering the world of Design, Maeli studied Acoustic and Marine Engineering in the U.K before moving to Perth and working in the industry as consultant for a few years. She enjoyed the problem solving and practical aspects of working as an Engineer but felt like it was time to develop her creative side by immersing herself in the performing arts.

Maeli has a collaborative and inclusive method of designing. She likes to immerse herself in the worlds and collaborate with the creative team to create abstract, colourful and symbolic designs which aim to engage and prompt the audience. Her previous career has given her strong communication skills which have helped her to work harmoniously with directors, writers and production departments.

Maeli has chosen to pursue a career in design and so far has found it rewarding, challenging, and wonderful. She is always excited to imagine and help create worlds.
